As I studied German culture and how it compared to American culture I realized that many of the stereotypes that I held about German society were false. This semester has opened my eyes to the fact that Germans are not really that different from myself. They do have different customs, but overall Germans seem to enjoy many of the same things as I do. Such things would be vacations, and family, and the love of good conversation. Also, learning about the history of the country made me understand how they came to have different customs. Overall, I learned a lot about perspectives both from the American point of view and the German point of view and gained a deeper understanding of how our two countries interact.
